Prompt Two

The following lines have been extracted from one side of an actual cell phone conversation:

“Okay, so send him on his way with forty dollars and we’ll call it a deal.”

“Well, you’re not winning.”

“Life isn’t always win-win. There’s gotta be a loser.”

To enter the competition for Prompt Two, write a short story that incorporates all three lines above. You are free to use the prompt in any way that you please, with the following stipulations:

- The three lines must appear in your story in the same order that they appear above (but they do not necessarily have to be in close proximity to one another).

- The lines cannot be altered beyond simple dialectical (e.g., winnin’ instead of winning) or superficial (e.g., we will instead of we’ll) changes. Note that the lines from the prompt are not required to appear as dialogue (or monologue) in the story, though they may if you wish.

Good luck.
